An interview with Bagali Dabo to Telegraf, who played for "Gabala" in 2016-2018 and "Neftchi" in 2018-2020
- First, let's talk about the end of your career. Did you plan this in advance?
- To be honest, I had it in mind, but yes, it was a difficult decision because I think I can play. I just lost my enthusiasm to keep playing.
- Do you feel closer to "Gabala" or "Neftchi" fans?
- I feel close to the fans of both teams, because I still receive support messages from them. I follow the games and news of both "Neftchi" and "Gabala". I am now like a fan of these clubs.
- Which of your head coaches in Azerbaijan do you think you played more successfully with?
- I will mention Roman Grigorchuk, because I spent two full seasons with him. I would also like to mention Roberto Bordini.
- Which game you played in Azerbaijan is etched in your memory?
- From my games in "Gabala", I would say the ones against "Maribor" and "Neftchi", and in my "Neftchi" career, the match with "Garabagh". We were celebrating like crazy after the goal I scored against Aghdam.
- How do you think Azerbaijani football has developed or declined since you left?
- I watch a lot of games. Currently, Azerbaijani football is more level. Very good players come there, and this really makes the championship attractive.
- Are you thinking of staying in football as a head coach, scout, or agent?
- Frankly, I am thinking of staying away from football now. But in the future, I want to get all the licenses, because we never say "never" in football.
- Would you work as a head coach or coach in Azerbaijan?
- Why not?! I like the mentality of Azerbaijan, but my main goal is not coaching.
- What is the main problem and shortcoming for "Neftchi" to play for the championship again?
- "Neftchi" just needs time. Success cannot be achieved in a short time. But a big team like "Neftchi" is not given much time either. I believe that they will show better results this year. Samir Abasov has had success in "Neftchi" before. I believe that they will fight for European cups next season.
- "Gabala" has returned to the Premier League after a one-year break. How do you think the team will perform this year?
- I was watching them last year too. They are making very good transfers. I am sure that "Gabala" will fight for European cups.
- Which of your teammates in Azerbaijan do you keep in touch with?
- I keep in touch with Elvin Camalov, Tellur Mutallimov, Araz Abdulayev, Murad Musayev, Asif Mammadov, Gismat Aliyev, Tural Akhundov and a few young players.
