The footballer, against whom a criminal case has been opened, is expected to receive a sentence of 3 months to 1 year. He has also been suspended from football until the investigation is completed.
It should be reminded that Mert Çelik has only appeared in one match for the Azerbaijani national team. He played in the friendly match against Belarus (0:2) this year. The footballer previously played for Azerbaijan's U-21 team, as well as the "Neftchi" and "Sabail" clubs.
