The draw ceremony for the Azerbaijan Cup in football has been held.
İdman.biz, citing Sportnet.az, reports that Sanan Abdullayev, Head of the Media and Marketing Department of the Professional Football League, first congratulated "Qarabağ" on their first victory in the Champions League on behalf of the organization he represents.
According to him, 34 teams will participate in the competition for the third consecutive season, with the II League team participating in the first stage.
Elgiz Abbasov, Head of the Technical and Sports Department of the PFL, stated that the clubs were divided into 4 baskets based on their ratings from the previous season. He said that after the 1/4 final stage, the teams will compete on a home and away basis. Abbasov noted that if the stadium of the home club does not meet the standards in the second qualifying round, the venue will be changed.
Later, a special guest - Aydın Suleymanli, European and world champion among juniors in chess, was invited to draw the lottery.
