Ayxan Abbasov, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team consisting of football players under 21, expressed his views at the press conference after the friendly match (1:3) held with the national team of Belarus of the corresponding age group at the Baranoviçi city stadium. Sport24.az reports that the expert commented on the defeat as follows:
"The defeat was upsetting. However, organizing such games is important for us. Our football players should get used to playing under the pressure of local fans in away matches. We expected the Belarus national team to try to play better at home. In the first 35 minutes, everything worked out for us. We scored a goal, we had a chance for the second goal. Unfortunately, after Raul Mammadov's injury, the opponent took the lead in the last 10 minutes of the first half and scored two goals. In the second half, we wanted to change something and give everyone a chance. In this case, the tempo inevitably drops. It was a test for us, we will draw conclusions from it. We will work on our mistakes and prepare for the upcoming match with Montenegro. Our high-tempo game in the first 35 minutes gave hope for the future."
It should be noted that U-21 will hold a test match with the Montenegro national team on June 8 at the Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgayit City Stadium.
