"Report" informs that Aykhan Abbasov, the acting head coach of the Azerbaijan national football team, said this at a press conference after the match against Ukraine in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
The expert commented on the match, which ended in a draw:
"Hopefully, we will have many good performances. I thank the players for their performance. We tried to show our best on the field. There has been a depression in the team for a long time. Maybe the players were performing under pressure. I thank the fans who supported us in our difficult moments. Hopefully, this point we earned will give the team extra strength."
He said that they were able to make some changes in the team in 1 day:
"We had very little time. We did what we could in 1 day. We tried to raise the psychological state of the team. We also had limited time to analyze the opponent. We tried to prevent the opponent's attacks."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Ukraine match held at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium ended in a 1:1 draw.
