"A tough game awaits us tomorrow".
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Aykhan Abbasov, at the press conference held before the match against the Icelandic national team in Baku as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.
He stated that they would do their best to achieve a successful result in tomorrow's game:
"The opponent has a stable squad. Their head coach is also experienced. They managed to take points from a strong team like France. But we are not weak either. We have attacking opportunities. The opponent plays well in the second stage. The first goal in the first match was scored from a set piece. We are working on this as well. We are wearing the uniform of the country's first team. We must be motivated until the referee's final whistle. I see this in my players".
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Iceland match will start on November 13 at 21:00 at the 8th kilometer settlement stadium.
