Ayxan Abbasov: "If what we want doesn't happen, I won't take risks."

After the match between "Shamakhi" and "Araz-Nakhchivan" (0:1) in the XXXV round of the Misli Premier League, Aykhan Abbasov, the head coach of the home team, answered journalists' questions. Sport24.az reports that the specialist first shared his thoughts on the match...

- Our goal was to stay in the league, and we succeeded. We can consider the season successful. I congratulate the opponent; they had a good year. We must look to the future. In the last games, young players and those who played less often are on the field. There is one game left. I am impatiently waiting for the championship to end. We will think about the next season.

- You built a good team. It seems that many want players from the squad. What do you think?

- Some foreign players have contracts. Ibrahim Konate moved to "Zira", and we parted ways with Bakic. There will be new transfers. Work has been going on for more than a month. I believe that if I stay here, we will be ambitious next season.

- If you stay, what will be the goal?

- We need to look at the budget. We have to be realistic. With this budget, there is no high goal. We will make efforts, and we will see to what extent it will work out. These depend on the budget.

- Your name is mentioned with "Sabah". How realistic is it?

- I hear it from you. There are some difficulties. If we don't get what we want, I won't take risks. We need to solve some issues. Anything can happen.

- You had the smallest budget. What can you claim with this budget in the new season?

- I have also looked. You can't tie everything to the budget. The new season will be difficult. "Gabala" has experience; they will be ambitious. In addition, a lot depends on the newly arrived teams. We need to be ready for everything.

- Is the management looking for new financial support?

- Yes, they don't stop, they are trying. It is easy to work with this management; professional work is being done. You don't have to tie everything to the standings. It is also necessary to train football players. Today, players like Rufat Abbasov and Edgar have emerged. Some clubs spend millions, but they cannot produce two football players. You have to believe. Believe me, if there were 15 young people today, I would play them all. Jafar, who debuted today, was in "Sabail"'s reserve team last season. We want to work; we don't give up.

- Did the departing foreign players leave on their own?

- Bakic was suffering because of the artificial turf. We mutually agreed with Vasili and parted ways.

- How did the absence of VAR affect the game?

- It was a calm game. I don't think VAR was needed.
