U-21 head coach Aykhan Abbasov did not agree with the initial conditions put forward by AFFA. According to Sport24.az, the leadership of the country's highest football body wanted Abbasov to lead the national team in the upcoming matches as a temporary head coach.
However, Aykhan bey does not want to accept the "temporary" status. In a conversation with AFFA officials, he stated that he could take on this heavy burden if a full-fledged contract was signed. The 44-year-old specialist also emphasized that if he were "at the helm" of the main national team for 4 matches, he would not be able to pay attention to the U-21 team. This would mean that the work done in the youth national team in recent times would be incomplete.
It should be noted that after Fernando Santos was dismissed, Aykhan Abbasov was entrusted with the "helm" of the national team in the match against Ukraine.
