Aykhan Abbasov, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national football team, announced that striker Nariman Akhundzade will not be called up to the national team for the "FIFA Series-2026" tournament.
The specialist said this in an interview with "Report".
He said that it is useful for the football player, who has recently joined the camp of the Columbus Crew club, to stay in America for now:
"Nariman's situation is different. He was without a club for the last 1 month and was training individually. He has just gone to America and recently joined his team's camp. We want Nariman to get stronger there. It is more advisable for him to stay in the team's camp. But I must say that he is one of the main players of the national team. Nariman has great potential. I believe that he will help us in the summer training camp and in the League of Nations in the required form."
