An awareness session on combating match-fixing was organized for the Azerbaijan U-19 national team.
İdman.Biz reports with reference to the press service of the organization that the session was conducted by Naib Asadov, Head of the AFFA Compliance and Anti-Match-Fixing Department, UEFA's person in charge of combating match-fixing.
At the beginning of the training, which took place at the National Teams Training Center based on the format defined in the UEFA competition rules, a short question-and-answer session was held to check the participants' existing knowledge in this area. The team members were explained the main values of football and the principles of fair play, and detailed information was provided about the concept of match-fixing, the nature of these actions and their possible consequences. Discussions were held based on real events, and statistical indicators and videos were shown.
Within the framework of the training, the risks of betting activities and illegal actions, sanctions and the mechanism of their application, and the essence of the changes made to the AFFA Disciplinary Code for the 2025/2026 football season regarding match-fixing were also explained.
At the end of the session, the players asked questions about the topic, which were answered by the coach.
It was reported that AFFA will continue its activities to educate young football players and promote the principles of fair play and transparency in the future.
