Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Enrique Cerezo Torres, the head of the Spanish football club "Atletico Madrid."

According to the press service of the Kazakh leader, Cerezo Torres informed Tokayev about the details of the project aimed at developing football in Kazakhstan. The project envisages the creation of an "Atletico" academy on the basis of the Akbulak Olympic Center, located in the Talgar district of Almaty region.
The statement notes that the President of Kazakhstan highly appreciated this initiative and assured that the state will provide full support to this project aimed at developing football in the country.
Tokayev emphasized that football is a priority area for Kazakhstan, and currently about 40,000 children are engaged in this sport in schools and sections, and sports infrastructure is being actively modernized.
According to Cerezo Torres, "Atletico" academies operate successfully in many countries around the world, and special attention is paid to the training of coaches and the application of advanced methodologies to unlock the potential of young talents.
