"The beginning of the season was difficult for us. Playing in some stadiums caused us discomfort. If it weren't for these factors, we would have secured our championship more easily. We were even in second place for a while. Still, we didn't get discouraged. The goal set before us was the championship." These words were said by Asif Mammadov, the captain of "Gabala", in an interview with Sport24.az.
The experienced football player spoke about his team's goals in the Premier League next season:
"It is too early to talk about goals. We will know it during the championship. Since we don't have the opportunity to go and see the legionnaires in person, we choose them through videos and look at their statistics. It is difficult to come from another country and adapt here in a short time. This happened to us 2 years ago. Changing a lot of players eventually caused the team to fall into the First League. It is very important for us what condition the newcomers are in."
The 38-year-old football player stated that he has not made a decision about his future career:
"I haven't made a decision about my career yet. It is written in the press that I will work as a coach. This question will be clarified after the meeting with the management. In any case, I will stay in "Gabala" as a football player or a coach. Even if not for 90 minutes, I have enough strength to help the team."
It should be noted that "Gabala", "Karvan" and "Imishli" will play in the Premier League next season.
