Head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that Liverpool have already paid Diogo Jota's family the full amount of his contract.
Idman.biz reports that Jota died in a car accident on July 3.
"I said I was proud of the reaction of the fans, but regarding the owners… Owners are usually criticised, like coaches. But the way they managed this situation – paying his wife and children the full amount of the contract – is commendable. Maybe people consider it normal, but it is not in the football world," Slot said.
Jota's contract with Liverpool was until the summer of 2027. The Portuguese had been playing for the "Reds" since 2020.
