The match against "Araz-Nakhchivan" was shameful for the "Aris" players.
"Report" reports that Marinos Uzunidis, the head coach of "Aris" (Greece), said this at a press conference after the return match against "Araz-Nakhchivan" in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
The specialist said they were sorry to stop the fight:
"This scene was shameful for those who came to the stadium. But it was a shameful night not only for the fans, but also for our players. We paid dearly for the mistakes we made at the beginning of the match. The opponent's red card made our job easier. But we scored the second goal too late. You prepare for the European Cups all season, but unfortunately, the ending can sometimes be like this. I take the responsibility for the defeat. We have a team that was formed in about two weeks. No matter what, we must keep our heads high".
He complained about the lack of VAR application during the game:
"The situation is different when VAR is applied. In another episode, the next red card could have been given to the "Araz-Nakhchivan" player. Maybe, if there was VAR, the penalty episode would have been cancelled. This defeat will give our players experience".
It should be noted that the "Aris" - "Araz-Nakhchivan" match, which took place at the "Kleantis Vikelidis" stadium in Thessaloniki, ended in a 2:2 draw. The Azerbaijani representative, who won the first match with a score of 2:1, advanced to the third qualifying round.
