"Zira" showed its good side in the first match against "Hajduk" (Croatia) in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
This was stated by Arif Asadov, the former coach of the Azerbaijani national team, in his statement to "Report".
The expert emphasized that the head coach of "Zira", Rashad Sadigov, and his assistants correctly analyzed the Croatian club:
"The strongest opponent fell to "Zira". But the coaches' good analysis of the opponent and the correct choice of tactics showed that both teams are of equal strength. Even in some moments, "Zira" surpassed its opponent. It tried to squeeze the opponent into its own half of the field and keep it under constant pressure. Although I expected "Zira" to build its game more on counterattacks. But the team played more confidently, scored the first goal and had more chances to distinguish themselves. We watched an open game because "Hajduk" also preferred attacking football. Both teams had more scoring opportunities, especially in the second half. It is obvious that "Zira" was not afraid of the opponent's name. I think the victory over another Croatian club, "Osijek", in the UEFA Conference League last year also played a role here. It seems that the team has gained confidence that it can beat Croatian clubs. This may affect the next game".
A. Asadov stated that the chances are equal in the away match:
"Considering Zira's game last year, I think the chances are equal away. Even extra minutes can be played in the match. There are some gaps in Zira in terms of physical condition. The reason for this is also known - the team is not yet in optimal shape. However, it seems to be forming tactically. The shortcomings are only related to the physical condition. Nevertheless, it is felt that there is light in the team's game and its international experience is increasing".
It should be noted that the "Zira" - "Hajduk" match, which took place at the 8th km stadium in Baku, ended with a score of 1:1. The return match between the teams will be held on July 30 in Croatia.
