"Araz-Nakhchivan" club appealed to the UEFA representative regarding the removal of the Armenian flag from the stands in the return match of the third qualifying round of the Conference League against "Omonia" in Cyprus.
This was reported to "Report" by the press service of the Azerbaijani representative.
The club stated that the police were immediately informed about the issue:
"The UEFA representative initially said it was an official flag. We, in turn, said that Cypriot and Azerbaijani clubs are playing. Why should the flag of another country be in the stands? This is an attempt at sabotage. He also agreed. He immediately informed the police about the removal of the flag, and the flag was removed. The representative emphasized that he had also noted this in his protocol. We even told the representative about this possibility at the meeting before the match."
It should be noted that the match ended with a 5:0 victory for the home team. Having lost 4 unanswered goals in Baku, "Araz-Nakhchivan" stopped fighting in the UEFA Conference League.
