"It was the first game of the championship. We knew it would be difficult." These words were said by Urfan Abbasov, the captain of "Araz-Nakhchivan", in his statement to Sport24.az.
The winger shared his thoughts on the first round match of the Misli Premier League, which they drew 1:1 with "Zira" away:
"We also came from a difficult trip. There was both physical and psychological fatigue. The defeats in the games with "Omonia" had a little bad effect on us. But in the first round, we tried to put all our efforts into it. Although our game was not good, we did not lose. We will focus on the next matches. We have to gain optimal form"
Abbasov said that they unexpectedly conceded a goal in the first half:
"Our head coach gave his specific instructions during the break. We tried to turn the match around. It was a tough game. But at least we were able to get one point."
He also touched upon the tension between the players on the field: "Both teams do not want to lose. Maybe that's why there is tension. "Zira" also wanted to win like us. We go to every meeting for three points. No one wants to lose. We see this in matches as well. We have watched all the matches in the opening round. Everyone wants to win points, that's why they fight on the field."
Finally, Abbasov spoke about the goals of the Nakhchivan representative in the current season: "The desire of all teams is to fight for high places. That is also our opinion. We plan to be among the medalists."
