Aqil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national under-17 football team, shared his thoughts on the first two matches held within the second round of the European Championship qualifying stage. Sport24.az reports that the specialist evaluated the matches against Bulgaria (1:1) and Lithuania (0:0) in his statement to the AFFA press service:
"We were the dominant side in the first game against Bulgaria. The opponent's biggest "weapon" was set pieces. They scored a goal in exactly this way. Nevertheless, we managed to score the equalizer. Although we had good scoring opportunities to win, we couldn't capitalize on them. Our main problem is in the final passes and shots. We experienced this problem in the second match against Lithuania as well. We completely dictated the match from beginning to end, and we had more possession. The referee also didn't award our two clear penalties. We had countless scoring opportunities. The players must work hard to eliminate this deficiency. We only go to games after 3-4 days of preparation in the national team, we don't have time to work on these things."
Aqil Nabiyev also spoke about the match against the Malta national team, which will be held on March 30 as part of the last round of the group: "The main thing is that there is a desire to win in the team, the players go to every match to win. I believe that we will be able to realize this in the meeting with Malta. Our goal is to definitely win in the match against Malta. There is some fatigue in the players. In any case, we must play well in the last match of the group and get the result we want."
It should be noted that our U-17 national team, which is in the 2nd group of League B, is in third place with 2 points.
