Azerbaijan's U-16 team defeated their Georgian peers in a training camp held in Baku, due to playing better both technically and tactically.
The team's head coach Aqil Nabiyev said this in an interview with "Report".
The specialist emphasized that the children have shortcomings in game practice:
"This is the first training camp for this team after the summer break. You know that the leagues in the lower age groups have not started yet. The children are very far from their playing form, they have problems with condition and practice. The victory over the Georgian national team was important. True, I was not completely satisfied with the game, there are shortcomings. Time is needed to eliminate them. Leagues should start, the number of training camps and international games should be high. Georgia is a ready-made team because the leagues for lower age groups have started in this country. The individual qualities of the players are better. Nevertheless, we won because we played better both technically and tactically. We will play the next test match against Georgia tomorrow."
A. Nabiyev emphasized that they will try to form the final squad in a few days:
"Some football players could not join the national team due to injuries and illnesses. This is almost our last training camp before the III CIS Games. After the game with Georgia, we will get together with the coaches, determine the final squad and submit it to AFFA. Since the number of teams in the leagues is small, the selection is not wide. For this reason, we also follow the children's test matches so that we have at least information about their overall situation."
It should be noted that U-16 faced a team of the corresponding age group from Georgia and won with a score of 1:0. The team led by A. Nabiyev will face this opponent for the second time tomorrow.
