Agil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team under 17, hopes that they will achieve a successful result in the group they are in in the first stage of the 2025/2026 season of the European Championship.
The specialist himself stated this in an interview with "Report".
He talked about the training camp that is currently continuing in Baku and will be held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, from August 17 to 22:
"As you know, we competed with the national teams of France, Israel and Romania in the European Championship. Our opponents are difficult, but we are preparing seriously for the games. Unfortunately, we have injured players. Our goalkeeper Rauf Ayyubov will have finger surgery today. In addition, we have several players undergoing rehabilitation. We will continue the first stage of preparation in Baku, and the second part in Montenegro. We will face the team of this country in a test match".
The expert said that they analyzed the opponent they will face in the test match:
"I have been appointed to this team since March. A lot cannot be changed in a short time. I hope that we will show a good game and take one of the first two places in the group. We have analyzed Montenegro, with whom we will face in the test match. They finished their last matches with a victory. If we implement what we want on the field, we can win. Unfortunately, some of our players have physical problems. Hopefully, it will be resolved over time. If the players are together for a long time, they will understand each other better".
It should be noted that our U-17 team, which is in the 9th group in the first stage of the European Championship, will compete with the national teams of France, Israel and Romania. The matches of the first stage will be held between July and November 2025.
