Aqil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team under 16, shared his thoughts on the match against the Kyrgyzstan team (4:0) within the framework of the III CIS Games. In his statement to the AFFA press service, the head coach said that the team performed better in the second half:
"This was our second match in the tournament. We watched and analyzed the opponent's first match against the Tajikistan team. I told my players that this game would be more difficult for us. Because the Kyrgyzstan team had nothing to lose and we knew they would be aggressive. We watched two different halves. In the first half, we gave the opponent gaps in the midfield. After the break, we made two substitutions. In the second half, we controlled the ball more and showed a dominant game. Despite scoring 4 goals, we also had missed episodes. We won an important victory and advanced to the final.".
Aqil Nabiyev said that they analyzed their final opponents, the Russian team: "Our opponent in the final, the Russian team, is a strong team. We analyzed the opponent's first game in the tournament. Even before the tournament started, we set a goal to reach the final and become champions. We have achieved our first goal. I believe that by playing correctly in the final, we will win the cup.".
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Russia match, which will be held on October 4 at the Gabala City Stadium, will start at 14:00.
