"Napoli" head coach Antonio Conte has stated that he has not agreed to be appointed as the head coach of the Italian national team. Sport24.az reports that the Italian specialist made a statement about this on "Rai Radio 1":
"I have no agreement. I still have a year left on my contract with Napoli and I will talk to the president at the end of the season. Interpret my words correctly. If they are distorted, I will not speak again."
The 56-year-old Italian coach previously coached the Italian national team from 2014 to 2016. Recently, there have been reports that "Napoli" is ready to release Antonio Conte to the national team. The coach himself stated that if he were in the place of the federation leaders, he would entrust the "helm" of the national team to him.
It should be noted that the Italian national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The team lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties in the play-off final.
