The 26th round match of the English Premier League held in Sunderland yesterday has gone down in history. In the "Sunderland" - "Liverpool" (0:1) match, none of the 22 players in the starting lineups were English.
Idman.Biz reports that this is the fourth such case since the establishment of the English Premier League in 1992. The first time was in 2009 when the "Arsenal" - "Portsmouth" match was played with lineups consisting entirely of legionnaires. "The Gunners" were also remembered for a similar statistic in the 2019 match against "Chelsea".
The last such incident before this was recorded in 2025 in a match between "Fulham" and "Manchester City".
