Former Benfica midfielder Angel Di Maria has confessed that he didn't know where Portugal was before arriving there.
Idman.Biz reports that the Argentine footballer moved from Rosario Central to Benfica in 2007 and played there until 2010. He also played for Benfica from 2023 to 2025.
"It was a difficult decision. You never know how things will turn out. When they called me, I didn't know where Portugal was, even though I love Lisbon now. I didn't know they spoke Portuguese there.
They explained to me that it was the best club in Portugal, a big club with Champions League experience. That was impressive," Di Maria said in an interview with Telefe.
