During the Brazilian national team's preparations for friendly matches, head coach Carlo Ancelotti stopped training and harshly criticized Chelsea's young player, Estevan Willian.
According to Idman.Biz, citing Globo Esporte, the 18-year-old footballer repeatedly ignored instructions to actively pressure the opposing defender during tactical training.
After several warnings, Ancelotti lost his temper and declared in front of the entire team:
"I will only say this once. You will do as I say, or you will be out of the team."
The coach made it clear that excellent technique and great talent do not exempt the young player from the requirements of discipline and precise execution.
The harsh words had an immediate effect. In the next match, Estevan scored two goals in a 5-0 victory and continued to demonstrate a high level in subsequent games. Ancelotti emphasized that he sees the player as an important part of the project, but this only happens if he is fully responsible tactically.
Despite his young age, he has already played 10 games for the national team and scored four goals. Ancelotti is confident that the future superstar must focus and become a well-rounded player, not only in attack but also in defense.
In addition, the relationship between the coach and the player is built not only on strict demands but also on trust. Ancelotti recently even allowed Estevan to take his driving license exam and waited at the entrance to personally congratulate him. He then jokingly shared the matter with the whole team, causing applause and laughter from the players.
Estevan joined Chelsea this summer after agreeing with Palmeiras, and the club already considers him one of the leading talents of the next generation.
