Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç has announced the reasons for the decision to dismiss Jose Mourinho from the position of head coach two days after the team stopped competing in the Champions League. Sport24.az reports that journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu shared about this on the X social network.
The club president emphasized that he was dissatisfied with the team's game:
"We discussed with Mourinho that we needed to be more dominant at the end of the season. Our goal was to score 99 points and 99 goals. Stopping the fight in the prestigious tournament after the game with Benfica did not weigh on me so much. True, it was unacceptable for this to happen. I just saw that there was no change in our team's game compared to last season. That's why we said goodbye to Mourinho."
It should be noted that the Portuguese specialist was "at the helm" of Fenerbahçe since the summer of 2024.
