Former Newcastle and England striker Alan Shearer has expressed his dissatisfaction with the current level of refereeing in English football. Sport24.az reports that the veteran footballer made a statement to the BBC about this:
"Referees rely too much on VAR. This is already affecting refereeing standards and does not bode well for the future."
It should be noted that Shearer voiced these opinions after the Premier League's 31st round match between Manchester United and Bournemouth, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
It is worth noting that in the 67th minute of the game, when Manchester United were leading 1-0, the "Red Devils" striker Amad Diallo was pushed by opponent defender Adrien Truffert with his hands while entering the penalty area. Referee Stuart Attwell did not record the foul at that moment, which caused criticism. In the next attack, Bournemouth equalized.
