"Ajax" has published a statement on its official website regarding defender Oleksandr Zinchenko's injury.
Idman.Biz reports that the Ukrainian player was injured over the weekend and was substituted early in the match against Fortuna.
An examination revealed a serious knee injury requiring surgery. The operation will take place soon. "Ajax" did not specify the exact recovery time for the 29-year-old player. The statement emphasized that his recovery will be long and Zinchenko's season is over.
Insider Fabrizio Romano estimates that the player's recovery will take at least six to seven months.
Zinchenko joined Ajax on loan on February 1. It was previously reported that the Dutch club would pay Arsenal 1.5 million euros for the player, plus bonuses related to his Champions League appearances. This season, the defender played on loan for Nottingham Forest, making 10 appearances without scoring a goal. Zinchenko previously played for Manchester City, Ufa, and PSV.
The Ukrainian player joined Arsenal in 2022. He has made 91 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring three goals.
