Aitana Bonmati, a footballer for the Spanish women's national team, may miss the European Championship, which starts on July 2 in Switzerland.
Idman.biz reports that the 27-year-old midfielder, who won the "Golden Ball" in women's football in 2023 and 2024, has been hospitalized with a diagnosis of viral meningitis.
The Spanish national team, the current world champion among women, will play its first match in the European Championship against Portugal on July 3.
It is not yet known whether Bonmati will participate in the tournament or whether another football player will be included in the squad in her place.
