"Compared to the game against Iceland, the tactics were chosen correctly in the match against France. In yesterday's match, we were pressing in the center. It can be said that we saw the last 15 minutes of the game against Iceland in the match against France." Aghasalim Mirjavadov said this in an interview with Sport24.az.
The former head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, currently a member of the Coaching Committee, shared his thoughts on the national team's defeat to France:
"We scored a beautiful goal in the first minutes, but the level of skill showed itself. Some of the opponent's key players did not come to Baku. However, the French are not a team dependent on a few players. I thank our fans. They gave great support. The fans love Azerbaijani football, the national team, and stand behind it. There should be a change in the game plan in the national team. Preparation starts from the club. Our football players must constantly play in their teams. Here, the main responsibility lies with the head coaches working in the clubs to give the national team's players more chances. I have noticed that some head coaches give foreigners more chances to wear the uniform when the legionnaire and the local football player are at the same level. This situation makes me think very seriously."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-France game ended with a 3:1 victory for the guests.
