Aghasalim Mirjavadov: "National team players must motivate themselves"

Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Aghasalim Mirjavadov, former head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, in an interview with Sport24.az.

The experienced specialist shared his thoughts on the national team's away match against Iceland within the qualifying stage of the 2026 World Cup: "I thought that after the abolition of the legionnaire limit, the national team's players would play less in their clubs, and that's what happened. First of all, we need to show a normal game, and then we will develop. There must also be a great desire in the national team. Not only in the players, but from the coaching staff to the administrator. This is a very important factor. Our national team should only play with this philosophy. Because players play less in clubs, therefore, the player must motivate himself and prepare for the national team matches. Anything can happen in the next two games. Iceland mainly prefers power football. Most of those on the team play abroad, in good teams. You don't need to pay attention to the player's name. First, you have to be psychologically ready. If the team is ready and willing, it is enough to achieve success."
