"A friendly match has one purpose: to prepare for the upcoming qualifying matches. Our national team will also start a new cycle in September," said Agaselim Mirjavadov in his statement to Sport24.az.
The experienced expert assessed the chances of the Azerbaijan national team in the "FIFA Series - 2026" international tournament:
"The main goal in such matches is to further improve the squad and enhance the playing style. Our national team played its last match in November. The spirit of victory must remain in the team so that the players are ready for official matches. Since these are friendly matches, I think Aykhan Abbasov will give a chance to all the players. I respect the head coach's choice of players. He is inside, he knows the players. In the current situation, many players of the national team do not play much in their teams. There is desire and belief."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan national team will face Saint Lucia today and Sierra Leone on the 30th. Both matches will be held at the Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgayit City Stadium and will start at 19:00.
