In the Club World Cup semi-final, PSG crushed Real 0-4. Kylian Mbappé is certainly not the main culprit for the failure, but some examples are starting to become alarming.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, whenever Real is seen as a favourite in a major tournament - with Mbappé, there are only defeats.
What Real has already lost since Mbappé's transfer
In July 2024, the French striker was grandly presented in Madrid: the striker spoke about his childhood dream and his desire to win titles. It is clear that he was mainly talking about the Champions League. Before La Liga even started, they already seemed to be winning...
The Opta supercomputer gave Real first place with a crazy advantage: 86 percent for first place, and no danger from Barcelona.
Everything looked good in other tournaments too. It was believed that Mbappé and Vinicius would collect trophies.
The results have been very disappointing
● Defeat in the Super Cup final against Barcelona with five goals conceded – 2:5.
● Two defeats in the championship derbies, despite the fact that the odds for the Catalans to win the title were 4.50.
● In the Copa del Rey, Barcelona snatched the cup from the Madrid club in the final.
● The Champions League was held without the Catalans - they were defeated by Declan Rice's unexpected free kicks.
● The sad trend was confirmed at the Club World Cup. Although Real started the tournament in first place with bookmakers, they could not even reach the final.
There have also been victories - Mbappé has two cups in Madrid
If we take more modest tournaments, Kilian has still added to his collection with his new team. In his very first match, he won the UEFA Super Cup: then Real beat Atalanta (2:0). In December 2024, the Frenchman scored the winning goal in the final of the Intercontinental Cup against Pachuca (3:0). This is all the success for the year - they definitely expected more.
It is funny to remember that after Mbappé's transfer, analysts increased the likelihood of Real winning the treble.
Will La Liga continue the losing streak?
Odds are already available for the next season in La Liga. Real is still in a higher position than Barcelona by a minimal margin. The chances of Xabi Alonso's team becoming champions are over 50 percent.
In the 2025/26 Champions League, Real shares second place with PSG, slightly behind Liverpool. Perhaps the new defeat will force bookmakers to stop believing in magic and fear a rematch.
