"Benfica" president Rui Costa spoke about the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach. Sport24.az reports that the president of the Lisbon team stated that they contacted the Portuguese specialist after the defeat to "Qarabag" in the first round of the UEFA Champions League League stage:
"Our sporting director Mario Branco prepared Mourinho's departure from "Fenerbahce". He also organized his arrival here. Mourinho was not even on my mind. After the game with "Qarabag", Mario Branco contacted him and finalized the process."
It should be noted that "Benfica" parted ways with head coach Bruno Lage after the match with "Qarabag".
