"Our national team has not been able to win for a long time. I think that this unsuccessful series will end in the upcoming games." These words were said by former Azerbaijani national team footballer Afran Ismayilov in his statement to Sport24.az.
The veteran footballer assessed the team's chances in the "FIFA Series - 2026":
"Our previous opponents were very strong. Therefore, it was too early to expect victory. The players invited to the team play in their own teams in the championship and they are all worthy of wearing the national team jersey. Such matches are in the interest of the players. In general, the national team is a very sensitive place for us. Therefore, it is necessary to make the right decision. The local coach knows the mentality better, knows the players. That is, he is fully aware of them. The player who is invited to the national team must understand the responsibility."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will face Saint Lucia on March 27 and Sierra Leone on March 30. Both games will be held at the Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgayit City Stadium and will start at 19:00
