"These are wonderful feelings. The Azerbaijani people have been waiting for this for years." These words were said by former "Qarabag" player Afran Ismayilov in his statement to Sport24.az.
The 36-year-old former midfielder spoke about the possibility of the Aghdam representative qualifying for the main stage of the UEFA Champions League:
"There is already a very good chance. Our team is playing the second match at home and there will be great fan support. "Qarabag" deserves great gratitude. It has been carrying Azerbaijani football on its shoulders for many years. This year, there is a great chance to get into the continent's number one club tournament as well."
Ismayilov recalled the period in 2017 when the Aghdam club qualified for the group stage of the Champions League:
"That atmosphere is completely different feelings. I wish the Azerbaijani club to be constantly in the main stage. Let the Champions League anthem be played in our country many times. "Qarabag" gives these feelings to Azerbaijani football. In today's return match, it is necessary to be calm and composed. Gurban muellim is also an experienced head coach of many years and he knows all this better than us. I believe that the players will fulfill his instructions. If so, they can easily win. There will be pressure, but the team has seen enough of it. I wish "Qarabag" success. Everyone's eyes will be on that game. The whole world will follow the success of our club."
