"There is no room for a friendly match with the Russian national team in this year's calendar."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Elnur Mammadli, the head of the AFFA press service, in an interview with the Russian press.
He commented on the desire of the head of the Russian Football Federation, Alexander Dyukov, to hold a friendly match with the Azerbaijani national team: "Currently, the Azerbaijani national team is preparing for the qualifying stage of the World Championship, which will start in the fall. As you know, the games will be held in September-November. The 2026 calendar is in the preparation stage. There will be information about this at the end of the year."
It should be noted that the Russian Football Federation, which has been subjected to sanctions, has been removed from all competitions organized under the UEFA flag.
