AFFA has accelerated its search for Azerbaijani-origin footballers abroad.
İdman.Biz reports with reference to futbolinfo.az that the national association is showing interest in Azerbaijani-origin footballers living in Ukraine and Russia in particular.
The list of footballers that the organization is trying to bring to our football is expanding day by day. However, it is not easy to get the consent of Azerbaijani-origin footballers born in Ukraine and Russia.
One of the players on AFFA's agenda, which still hasn't lost hope for Moscow Dynamo striker Ulvi Babayev, is Rolan Mustafayev, who plays for the Ukrainian club Rukh.
AFFA also showed interest in Rolan, the younger brother of Emil Mustafayev, when they naturalized Emil Mustafayev at the beginning of last year. However, at that time, the striker was not yet 16 years old and this matter was not taken seriously. Since that time, the national association, which has been closely following Rolan's performance, has seen serious progress in the footballer's performance. For this reason, negotiations have been restarted with the 17-year-old player himself and his family.
AFFA also expects support from Polissya midfielder Emil Mustafayev in this matter. Because there is a possibility that Rolan will be called up to the Ukrainian U-19 team. The relatives of the forward player are in favor of him choosing the Azerbaijani national team. However, the footballer himself has not yet finalized his decision on whether to change his citizenship.
It should be noted that Rolan Mustafayev, a graduate of Rukh, has played for the Ukrainian U-16 and U-17 national teams.
