"As you know, our referees Nijat Ismayilli and Aliyar Aghayev had traveled to the country to officiate several matches of the Kuwait Cup. They cannot return home due to the military tension in the region."
These words were said by Murad Akhundov, head of the press and public relations department of AFFA, in his statement to Sport24.az.
The official of the organization stated that the necessary steps have been taken for the return of Aliyar Aghayev and Nijat Ismayilli, well-known football referees of Azerbaijan, to our country:
"As AFFA, we are in constant contact with our referees and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kuwait. We have informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. We are doing our best to ensure that our referees return to our country as soon as possible. Our referees are also in constant contact with the Kuwait Embassy themselves."
