Elnur Mammadli, the head of the AFFA press service, commented on the restriction of the activities of the "Gabala" Football Academy.
The official of the national association gave an explanation to "Report" about this.
He said that at the meeting of the AFFA Executive Committee held in June 2024, a decision was made to allocate 700,000 manats for a period of one year to the "Gabala" club for the purpose of maintaining the academy and infrastructure:
"At the same meeting, it was planned to hold training camps of the Azerbaijani national teams of various age groups in Gabala to support the "Gabala" club. The last part of 700,000 manats was transferred to the club's account at the end of May. In addition, training camps of almost all age groups of our national teams were organized in Gabala during the year. Even international friendly matches of our national teams in lower age groups were held in Gabala. From September 2024 to June 2025, 265,918 manats were spent on training camps of national teams consisting of lower age groups in Gabala, and this was also aimed at supporting the "Gabala" club. Before the match of the A national team with Estonia in November of last year, a lot of money was spent on repairs at the Gabala city stadium and on the reconstruction of the sound system."
It should be noted that the "Gabala" club announced yesterday that the activities of the academy had been restricted.
