"Although there are good football players in Nigeria, few of them can play at the level of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Recruiting people from other fields under the guise of football players is just empty talk."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by the head coach of "Kapaz" Adil Shukurov in his statement to Telegraf.
The 48-year-old expert spoke about the bringing of a group of football players from Nigeria for viewing, which caused dissatisfaction among Ganja fans some time ago. Shukurov commented on the allegations that they were brought to the camp at the initiative of Erkin Ibrahimov, the club's former advisor on sports issues: "Not only Erkin Ibrahimov, but also other people related to football were involved in this matter. Since it was a period of viewing football players, we looked at them and informed the management. But there were no players we liked."
The head coach answered a question about changes in the club's management: "This is not an issue for me to comment on, and I don't think it will affect the team's results in the next season. The squad is good and the players are trying to fulfill the tasks given."
Shukurov also added that the mass sending of football players for other reasons is false information: "Simply, some football players' expectations exceeded our capabilities. They left the team because we could not meet their demands. There is no talk of having a problem with any football player and sending them away for that reason."
It should be noted that Erkin Ibrahimov, a member of the Board of Directors of "Kapaz" and advisor on sports issues, has officially resigned from his post these days. It is alleged that Namig Gadirov, the chairman of the Board of Directors who came to the club in May, has also left the club.
