Something was bound to happen. Let me explain my thought: the decisions made since the start of the game have been bothering me. Sometimes we see what happens in front of the technical area and we keep quiet, but there are times when it's hard to turn a blind eye to what the referees do, to stay silent." These words were said to Sport24.az by Adil Shukurov, the head coach of "Sabail".
The experienced specialist commented on the events that took place in the match against "Baku Sporting" in the 20th round of the First League:
"In the second yellow card episode, the referee's decision to change the penalty to the opposite side already drove everyone crazy and eventually resulted in a red card. We also have emotions. I guess we're getting old, I guess I'm starting to get impatient. Referees should be more careful in their decisions. Some of their mistakes directly affect Azerbaijani football. It is possible that the referees are young, they may not have properly assessed some episodes. But we have repeatedly witnessed that clubs have collapsed or sponsors supporting the team have withdrawn due to referee errors. From this point of view, saying "I saw it that way" and skipping over episodes is not the right approach. On the contrary, referees should work harder on themselves and be as careful as possible in their decisions so that they will be remembered with good words in the future."
It should be noted that Adil Shukurov was punished for insulting the referees after receiving a second yellow card in the 65th minute of the game. The club was fined 3,000 manats for this action.
