"Our national team has played 3 games under the leadership of Aykhan Abbasov, and I would say that in these matches we saw perhaps the most enthusiastic team of recent times." Adil Shukurov said this in his statement to Sport24.az.
The experienced specialist assessed the chances of our national team in the games against Iceland and France:
"The main advantage of all the teams coached by Aykhan Abbasov has been to catch the opponent in counter-attacks. We saw this in the first game against Ukraine and in the match against the French national team. In the second match against the Ukrainian national team, our national team tried to build more aggressive attacks, which was sometimes very effective. However, the game against Iceland and France in Baku will be more difficult. The match in Iceland showed that the main team of this country is in the development stage. The attacking football shown by the Icelanders in the matches against France and Ukraine is somewhat similar to the game style that suits Aykhan Abbasov's team. As I mentioned above, the opponent playing like this creates a favorable environment for building fast counter-attacks. The more important issue is that the players who will appear on the field can carry out the tasks given by the coaches at the required level. The meeting with the French national team is a separate motivation for each player."
Shukurov stated that the national team members should gain an advantage in the competition in the domestic championship:
The issue of "giving time" depends more on the goal set. In general, the issue of "giving time" in the national team is a very broad concept. That is, in order to form the main team of the country, it is necessary to achieve the development of local football players first of all. For this, local players should live the life of legionnaires. On the other hand, football players should be superior in competition with legionnaires in the national championship. Otherwise, no matter how much time is given, it will be useless."
