"Neftchi" football club striker Vincent Abubakar has made sensational statements about his former head coach Sergen Yalçın.
Idman.Biz reports that the Cameroonian footballer said in an interview with Ertem Şener that the main contribution to the championship won in 2021 belonged to the players.
"We were the football players who did the great job at that time and became champions. We made "Beşiktaş" champion, not Sergen Yalçın. That cup was won by the group of players who fought on the field. The head coach is the same head coach, there are even bigger players in the current squad than in that period. If so, let him make them champions now, let's see. The only goal is the championship," the striker emphasized.
The experienced striker also spoke about his relationships in his former team. He said that he still has contact with some of the people working at the club and Valentin Rosier, but he no longer watches Beşiktaş games:
"I had very good seasons there, the level was very different, but I haven't watched their matches for a long time."
Abubakar, especially emphasizing the fans of the Istanbul club, added, "Beşiktaş has very special fans. I left a mark there during my stay, wrote my name in the club's history and won many cups."
