"Galatasaray" official Abdullah Kavukçu made a statement after the "Kocaelispor" - "Galatasaray" match and reacted sharply to the words of "Kocaelispor" president Recep Durul.
İdman.Biz reports that Kavukçu evaluated both the overall course of the game and the opinions directed at his club in his statement to TV100.
"We are going through a very difficult period in terms of commercial terms and game rhythm. 6 of the first 9 teams in the Champions League have lost points. We are in the same situation. We focus on every game and continue our work. We will work to be champions at the end of the season," said Kavukçu.
He then criticized the post-match statements of the "Kocaelispor" president:
"I can't believe these words. We are a 120-year-old club. "Galatasaray" has a clean name. Whoever mentions our name should look at themselves first. It is one thing to come in front of the cameras to gain fame, but you cannot talk about our club like that. I respect Kocaeli fans, but the president went too far. There will be a response to this."
Kavukçu also referred to the upcoming "Fenerbahçe" derby:
"We welcome every team that comes as if they were at our home, but we did not see the same attitude. But we continue on our way. We are the leader in the tournament table, we are fighting in the Champions League. We have a game against "Fenerbahçe" ahead. We'll talk after that match."
