Mill died at the age of 67 due to the effects of a heart attack he suffered in May.
As a professional, the striker played for Rot-Weiss Essen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and Fortuna. He scored 123 goals in the Bundesliga and 87 in the second Bundesliga. He won the German Cup with Borussia Dortmund in 1989.
