Santiago Castrillón, an 18-year-old midfielder for the youth team of Colombian club "Milyonarios", has passed away.
"Report" reports that the club's press service has released information about this.
The incident occurred on Saturday during a national youth championship match. The footballer suddenly lost consciousness on the field. He was immediately given medical assistance, and then transported by ambulance to the hospital and placed in intensive care under the supervision of cardiologists.
Despite the doctors' efforts, the young athlete did not regain consciousness and died. The club's official statement said that Santiago was laid to rest surrounded by his family, teammates, and friends.
It should be noted that although Castrillón did not make his official debut in "Milyonarios"' main team, he was repeatedly included in the game participation list.
