"My experience helped me to draw the match". According to Sport24.az, Zeynab Mammadyarova, who qualified for the next stage after the second match (0.5:0.5) with Ayan Allahverdiyeva in the 1/8 finals of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship, said this in a statement to the press service of the federation.
The Grandmaster emphasized that her opponent was strong:
"My opponent is a very strong chess player. She has been performing well in recent years. She is a candidate for the national team. I have not been able to devote much time to chess in recent years due to my work. However, I gained an advantage by using my experience. Although I was in a tense situation, I think my experience helped me to draw the match".
The Sumgayit chess player evaluated her chances in the 1/4 finals:
"The opponents in the 1/4 finals will be very strong. In fact, every opponent is strong. I will face an even stronger opponent than in the first round. Looking at my results in previous games with Ulviyya Fataliyeva, I think I have a point advantage. We have passed one stage. We will both prepare for the next stage".
She mentioned the name of the chess player whose style of play she liked:
"I especially like Khanim Balajayeva's style of play. She finishes the games without losing much energy. Of course, there are also chess players with higher ratings. In my opinion, Khanim can play more comfortably with such a competition system".
It should be noted that Zeynab Mammadyarova defeated Ayan Allahverdiyeva with a score of 1.5:0.5 according to the results of two games. She will face Ulviyya Fataliyeva in the 1/4 finals.
