The medalists of the "Baku Open 2026" International Chess Festival have been awarded.
Idman.Biz reports that the winners were presented with medals, cups, cash prizes, and certificates.
Prizes were presented to participants in various age categories by the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich, President of the European Chess Union Zurab Azmaiparashvili, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF) Mahir Mammadov, and other individuals.
It should be noted that more than 900 chess players from 10 countries participated in the competition. The prize fund of the "Baku Open 2026" International Chess Festival is 50,000 US dollars.
Former world champion, two-time winner of the World Chess Olympiad Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukraine), world rapid champion Daniil Dubov (FIDE), medalist of the individual European Championship Nijat Abasov, and winner of the European Championship among 14-year-olds Khagan Ahmad also participated in the tournament.
