The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has updated its rating for the world's strongest chess players for April 2026.
Idman.Biz reports that, for the first time in history, two grandmasters from Uzbekistan have entered the top five.
Nodirbek Abdusattorov is fourth in the world with 2780 points. Javokhir Sindarov, who won the Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, has moved up six places and is currently fifth with 2776 points.
Norwegian Magnus Carlsen remains the leader in the FIDE rating (2840). Hikaru Nakamura from the USA is second (2792), and his compatriot Fabiano Caruana (2788) completes the top three.
